Flame Retardant Viscose Fiber

Flame retardant viscose fiber is a type of cellulose-based fiber that has been treated with flame retardant chemicals to enhance its fire resistance properties. Viscose, also known as rayon, is a semi-synthetic fiber derived from natural sources such as wood pulp or bamboo.

The process of making viscose involves treating cellulose with chemicals to create a liquid solution, which is then extruded into filaments and spun into fibers. These fibers are soft, breathable, and have a silk-like appearance, making them popular in various textile applications. This types that resemble silk are often called artificial silk.

It’s important to note that while flame retardant treatments can enhance the fire resistance of viscose fibers, viscose flame retardant fabric may not provide the same level of flame resistance as inherently aramid flame retardant fabric.
